Paul James Burk of Eureka, died on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, at the age of 94.

He was born on August 17, 1923, in Eureka, the son of John F. and Mamie (Brazil) Burk. He was raised in Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School with the class of 1941. He attended Catholic seminary and later returned to Eureka. He worked at various places in Eureka including the Princess Theater. In 1960, he purchased Miller’s Department Store in Eureka in a joint venture with Harry Paulson. They operated Burk-Paulson Clothiers for many years. Harry retired in the early 1980’s and Paul eventually retired in the early 2000’s.

He was a devout member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #7291. The legacy of love, devotion and generosity that our beloved Uncle Paul leaves behind will never be surpassed but will always be an inspiration to all of us.

He is survived by nephews and nieces, Kent and wife, Brenda Burk of El Dorado, Kansas; Kathi Wiggins of Eureka; Kevin and wife, Lori Burk of Eureka; and Elaine Black of Wichita; and numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Francis John Burk and Howard Aloysius Burk.

Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 16, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eureka with Father Stephen Gronert. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka. Rosary recitation will begin at 10:30 A.M., Friday, preceding mass.
