Patricia Joan “Patty” Bunyard, formerly of Eureka, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at the Gardens at Aldersgate, in Topeka, at the age of 82.
She was born on September 9, 1939, in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of Albert Cecil “Swede” and Viola Marie (Stevens) Jackson. She was raised in Eureka and graduated from local schools. Patty worked in the Greenwood County Clerk’s office for many years. Patty cared for many elderly and disabled individuals as a certified nursing assistant. She worked for Randall Electric, Inc. in Lawrence, Kansas several years and worked at Boeing in Wichita.
Patty gave her time and service to this community while raising 5 children. At that time, she was married to Paul Bunyard. She was a member of First Baptist Church; she was a Sunday school teacher and volunteered much of her time helping others. She was a Girl Scout leader and participated in many school and church events.
Patty loved spending time with her family, traveling and learning the local histories of places.
She is survived by her children, Tammy Sue Montayne of Florence; Debra Joan Naab of Olathe; Terri Lee Randall of Baldwin City; and Cory Rance Edwin Bunyard of Honolulu; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Alberta Lewis of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Phyllis Churchill of Emerald Isle, North Carolina; and Robin Jackson of Andover. She was preceded in death by her son Barry Bunyard, her parents, and one brother, John Jackson.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 16, 2022, at Greenwood Cemetery, in Eureka with Pastor John Craighead of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating.
