Pat V. Miller, of Eureka, died at the Eureka Nursing Center on Monday, January 17, 2011, at the age of 88.
He was born in Parkerville, on November 15, 1922, the son of Leo and Barbara (Utterbach) Miller. Pat was raised in the Emporia area and attended Emporia schools. After his schooling he joined the United States Army and served his country with honor and dignity during World War II. Upon his discharge he lived in Wichita for a short time before moving to Eureka where he was a construction worker and later a plumber.
On July 13, 1950, Pat was united in marriage to Jackie Bumgardner in Eureka where they made their home. In later life he worked for Midwest Mill until his retirement in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie of the home; two sons, Terry Miller of Bern, and Gary Miller of Groton, New York; one daughter, Carol Bitler of Eureka; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Mike Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Mr. Jayme Koup officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established in his name to Hospice Care of Kansas and the Greenwood County Hospital. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
