Orlan “Reece” Land, of Eureka, died on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, at the age of 63.

He was born on September 4, 1944, in Culver City, California, the son of Wilbert Clark and Pauline (Cary) Land. Reece was raised in Wichita and attended local schools. The family later moved to Howard where Reece graduated from Howard High School. He then attended Kansas State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences.

On August 28, 1966, he was united in marriage to Drusilla Caruthers in Howard, Kansas. They made their home in Wichita for three years. In 1970, they moved to Eureka. Reece worked for several businesses in the area including Ranch Aid for 28 years, Jarvis Auto, and Irsik & Doll Feed Services. Reece continued to work until his health forced him to take medical leave.

Reece is survived by his wife, Drusilla of the home; three daughters, Shannon Weaver of Newkirk, Oklahoma; Michelle Hurn of Hiawatha; and Molly Starkey of Spring Hill; five grandchildren; mother, Pauline Archibald of Hamilton; and two brothers, Max Land of Keizer, Oregon; and Dale Land of Oregon. He was preceded in death by his father, and one sister, Norma Price.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing hours are from 9:00 A.M., until 4:00 P.M., Tuesday at the funeral home.
