Oliver O. Drake
Oliver Often Drake of Eureka, died on May 10, 2013 at the Eureka Nursing Center at the age of 80.
He was born on March 16, 1933, the son of Fern Often and Estie Ann (Milner) Drake. Oliver was raised in the Toronto area and attended local schools. After his schooling, Oliver helped on the family farm before becoming a mechanic. While owning his own shop he joined the National Guard Reserves for two years. On January 30, 1951, he was united in marriage to Mary Jo Caylor, they made their home in Eureka.
Oliver was a member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; children, Kenneth Drake of Rockaway Beach, Missouri; Janet Allen of Americus; and Trish Parre of Topeka; 6 grandchildren; and 10 ½ great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and five sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Hill of the Perry Christian Church officiating. Visitation hours are from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. before the service. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lion’s Park Improvement Project. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
