Norman Eugene Britain, of Eureka, died on Monday, October 11, 2004, at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, at the age of 76.

He was born on January 20, 1928, in Eureka, the son of Cecil E. and Vera (Pugh) Britain. Norman was raised in Eureka, and attended local schools. He later joined the United States Navy and served his country with honor and dignity during World War II and the Korean conflict.

On May 26, 1952, he was united in marriage to Patricia Hodgson in Eureka where they made their home.

From 1954 to 1974, he worked for Champion Spark Plug and later owned the Eureka Locker for five years. Later he worked as an automotive sales representative until his retirement in 1994. Norman was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman. He was a member of the Westlink Christian Church, the Lions Club, Odd Fellows, and the Eureka Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, two sons, Robert E. Britain of Kalmath Falls, Oregon; Daniel W. Britain of Eureka; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara Becker of St. Louis, Missouri; and Carol Flory of Overland Park, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 14, 2004, in Greenwood Abbey at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka, with Pastor Stan Seymour of the First Christian Church of El Dorado officiating. Cremation has been effected.

Memorials have been established in his name with the Disabled American Veterans and VFW Post # 2712. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
