Noble Patchett of Eureka, went home to meet his Savior on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka at the age of 88.

He was born on December 3, 1924, son of P. Albert “Pat” and Della May (Tannahill) Patchett on a farm southwest of Hamilton, Kansas. Noble was raised in Greenwood County and attended mostly one room school houses finishing in the consolidated Tonovay School. Noble was employed for nearly 16 years for the Missouri Pacific Railroad doing bridge and building work. He was then employed by Parker Construction of Wichita, erecting metal buildings and concrete work. In 1971, he worked for J.I. Case Manufacturing making Uni-loaders and underground equipment until his retirement in 1984.

On May 20, 1944 he was united in marriage to Harriet Ruth Bieler in Eureka, Kansas which they enjoyed for 68 ½ years. He was a member of the Christian & Congregational Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2712. Noble also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. In 1992, he was coaxed into learning to dance with the senior group and ended up joining Kansas Oldtime Fiddlers, Pickers, and Singers of Yates Center, and the Kansas Polka Club of Wichita.

Noble is survived by his wife, Harriet of the home; son, Marty Patchett and wife, Glenda of Eureka; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant daughter, Vera Louise; an infant son, Harrison LeRoy; and adult son, Verle Noble; brothers, Orville and Wayne Patchett; and one great-granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka with Reverend Kenneth Baker of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Eureka Nursing Center Employees and Staff Christmas Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
