Noble Forrest Knapp, of Augusta, died on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at his residence in Augusta, at the age of 95.
He was born on September 25, 1910, near Piedmont in rural Greenwood County, the son of Vernor and Dora (Templeton) Knapp. He attended South Maple Grade School and graduated from Piedmont High School with the class of 1929. After his schooling, he worked in the oil fields for a short while and later for Beech Aircraft before moving to Lajunta, Colorado.
On June 28, 1940, he was united in marriage to Letha Lyons in Newton. While in Colorado, he built his own filling station, and operated a used car lot, and a sporting goods store. He later sold the filling station to Standard Oil and moved to Wichita. He began working for Electrified Bottled Water Company and eventually owned the company. In 1971, Noble retired and moved to Eureka.
He was a member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Letha; one son, Forrest Duane Knapp of Augusta; one daughter, Karen K. Warstler of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery.
