Nancy Joan Wilson of Eureka, died on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at her home in Eureka, at the age of 76.

She was born on August 5, 1938, in Wichita, the daughter of George R. and Mary Ann (Parker) Gilbert. She was raised in Wichita and Fordland, Missouri, and attended local schools. On October 21, 1956, Nancy was united in marriage to LeRoy Wilson in Wichita. Nancy began working for Boeing with sheet metal. To this union, three children were born. The family moved to Severy in the early 1960’s while still working in Wichita.

She and LeRoy both retired in the mid-1990’s and then began travelling the country in a fifth-wheel. They travelled nearly everywhere between Arizona and Alaska for thirteen years. They made their home in Severy with LeRoy’s father to care for him when his health declined. They moved to Eureka in 2011.

Nancy was a member of the Severy United Methodist Church, the Cosmos Club, and the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her husband, LeRoy of the home; two children, daughter, Cheryle Joan Edwards of Yates Center; and son, Rick LeRoy Wilson of Leon; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tracy Eugene Wilson; granddaughter, Robin Jo Baumgartel; and three siblings, sister, Betty Ann Sarver; brother, George Robert Gilbert, Jr; and sister, Ivone “Sue” Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Severy United Methodist Church with Pastor Stacy Ellsworth officiating. Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Greenwood County Relay for Life. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
