Nancy Jane (Meredith) Stuber of Eureka, passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2022, with her husband of 66 years by her side. She was 86.

She was born on February 13, 1936, in Eureka, the sixth of seven children born to Creet and Adelia Laura (Lehmann) Meredith. She attended Eureka schools and participated in many events, particularly band and tennis. She graduated from Eureka High School with the Class of 1954 and worked at the Rexall Drug store during school and at Leben Jewelers after graduation. She then met Virgil Stuber, Jr. and they were married on January 9, 1956, at the Eureka United Methodist Church. Shortly after, they moved to Casper, Wyoming following the oil boom. To this marriage, five children would be born.

Virgil worked in the oil fields with Halliburton Company for 13 years and Nancy took loving care of their children and home. Later they would move outside of Casper to Mills, Wyoming renting a small farm and raising Angus cattle, horses, and alfalfa hay. Nancy enjoyed gardening and canning things from her garden each year. In 1969 they returned to Greenwood County and started their own dairy, cattle, and crop farm near Severy. Nancy worked at Jim’s IGA and at the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Department during the early years to help with the startup and success of the family dairy and farm.

Nancy was a 4-H club leader for several years with the Climax Swingers and enjoyed helping and guiding the youth and future leaders each year. She volunteered during election time at the local polling locations, believing in and encouraging everyone’s right to vote. But her love and passion were her family and she worked tirelessly on the farm alongside Virgil milking cows, feeding calves, driving hay and grain trucks, and fixing meals for the family and work crews. She was the bedrock of the family.

After their children were grown and moved away, Virgil and Nancy sold the dairy farm and moved to Eureka and became partial owner/operators of the Eureka Sale Barn and later owned and operated Sun Cementing & Acidizing Company. Nancy supported these businesses by performing the administrative functions and responsibilities. Nancy and Virgil later sold both businesses but continued raising cattle, hay, and a few crops.

She is survived by her husband, Virgil of the home; daughter, Roxane and wife, Tanya Wagner of Denver, Colorado; son, Todd and wife, Kathy Stuber of Helena, Montana; grandsons, Chad Stuber of Wichita, and Bret Stuber of Greenwood, Missouri; sister, Teresa Kosel of Post Falls, Idaho; four sisters-in-law of Eureka, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three children, Rod, Tracy, and Kurt; her parents; and five siblings, Marion Alice Whiles, Dorothy Jean Roberson, Dale Clifford Meredith, Roger Dean Meredith, Julia Ruth Litz.
