Nancy Joan (Cooper) Mattingly-Van Haverbeke
Joan (Cooper) Mattingly-Van Haverbeke, of Overland Park, died on June 3, 2012 at Delmar Gardens at the age of 81.
Joan was born on September 28, 1930 in Climax, Kansas the daughter of Ira and Mary (Cross) Cooper. She was raised in Climax and attended school in Eureka graduating in 1948. After graduation, she married George Mattingly in Eureka, Kansas and they moved to Overland Park, Kansas. Joan then went to work for the IRS as a tax examiner for 20 years. George preceded her in death in 1986. She married David Van Haverbeke in 1988. He preceded her in death in 2012.
She was a member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, D. Randall Van Haverbeke of Flagstaff, AZ.; Denise Van Haverbeke of Canon City, CO.; Mark Van Haverbeke of Lincoln, NE.; Karen Van Haverbeke of Canon City, CO.; Georganna Meyer of Chandler, AZ.; and Gary Mattingly of Dublin, CA.; five grandchildren, Lewis Hyatt, David Van Haverbeke, Hannah Meyer, Samuel Meyer, and Caitlyn Dennis; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ada Owens of Oklahoma City, OK.; and Patsy Armstrong of Wichita; brothers, Jack and Mike Cooper of El Dorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and daughter, Amy L. Van Haverbeke.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Seminarian Tim Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, in Eureka.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation of the Heartland. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
