Nancy Sue Maskrid of Derby, died on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Glen Carr House, in Derby, at the age of 83.

She was born on September 21, 1938, in Greenwood County, the daughter of Alva Lawrence and Rose Leah (Nunn) Duncan. She was raised in the rural Eureka/Tonovay area, graduating from Tonovay High School with the Class of 1956. In 1956, Nancy was united in marriage to William Valentine Everly, Jr. They made their home in Eureka. To this union, two children were born. This marriage later ended in divorce. The family later moved to El Dorado where she operated Job Lunch veal house for many years.

Nancy later moved to Wichita to work as a legal secretary, retiring in the mid 90’s. On June 24, 1995, Nancy was united in marriage to Charles “Richard” Maskrid. They made their home in outlying Wichita so they could spend the rest of their days in a quiet area. Richard preceded her in death on June 3, 2012.
Nancy often volunteered for the Wichita Humane Society and the Disabled American Veterans.

She is survived by her children: Patsy Lee of Wichita; and Billy Ray Everly of Augusta; four grandchildren: William, Ashley, Wyatt, and Ryan; six great-grandchildren; and three siblings: Dorothy Curran of Eureka; Pauline Hosler of El Dorado; and Linda Sill of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandchild, Jesse; and two sisters, Violet Rose Click and Patricia Ann “Pat” Province.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka with Pastor Kevin Lawrence officiating. Visitation hours will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Wichita Humane Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, PO Box 595, Eureka KS 67045, which is overseeing arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family online, at koupfunerals.com.
