Irene Cutmyer, of Eureka, died at Medicalodge of Eureka on Sunday, May 23, 2004, at the age of 91.

She was born in Greenwood County, on March 16, 1913, the daughter of William Tyler and Maude (Clopton) Meredith. She was raised in Greenwood County and attended Eureka schools, graduating from Eureka High School with the class of 1931.

On July 29, 1932, Irene was united in marriage to Kenneth Earl Cutmyer in Eureka. Irene worked as a Nurse’s Aid at the Basham Hospital and Clinic until 1957 when the family moved to Medicine Lodge. In 1962, they moved to Casper, Wyoming, in 1966, to Bakersfield, California, and in 1976, they returned to Eureka. Kenneth preceded her in death on February 26, 1983.

Irene was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Queen Bess Chapter 56, Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one son, William Cutmyer of Pittsburg, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and three sisters.

Memorial services were held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 28, 2004, at the Greenwood Abbey with Pastor Roger Dennis of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her name to Christ Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home which was in charge of service arrangements.
