Mona Lee Davidson Profile Photo
Mona Lee Davidson of Eureka, departed this world for Heaven on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka, at the age of 67.

She was born on April 20, 1951 to Jose and Carmen (Leon) Ybarra in Parsons, Kansas. She graduated from Labette County High School, in Altamont, Kansas with the Class of 1969. She later graduated from the Independence Beauty College in 1970, had owned/worked in her own beauty shop: R & M Body Shop, babysitting, and as a receptionist at Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home.

A Eureka resident since 1972, Mona lived at Magic Circle making many friends with the residents and neighbors and often would make sure they had an opportunity to get out and shop! She was a successful hair stylist for many years before retiring. She loved to shop for clothes & jewelry (favorite stores: Cato, Walmart, Ross, Marshalls), watching K-State football, loving her cat “MJ”, watching scary movies with James, writing in her journal, crossword puzzles, visiting with friends, and spending time with her family. Mona’s signature color was black, her make-up was always perfect, loved wearing her silver jewelry, and her philosophy was “the blingier the better!” Her greatest joy was being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mona showed us the importance of enjoying and capturing the moment with her handy Fuji disposable camera! “You betcha” she would say, capturing candid moments and other great pictures. No matter how many times her children attempted to convert her to the digital camera she stood by her Fuji disposable cameras.

She is survived by her children: daughter, Christina and husband, Robbie Dodd of Fort Worth, Texas; son, Richard Davidson, Jr. of Emporia, Kansas; daughter, Marie Martin of Farmers Branch, Texas; Mona’s greatest blessings: five grandchildren: Garrett Dodd; Caitlin Hare and fiancé, Chris Crowell; Kyle Hare; Morgan Hall; and Madisin Hall; and one great-grandchild, Shelby Crowell; her brothers: Joe and wife, Mollie Ybarra of Mound Valley, Kansas; Alex and wife, Brenda Ybarra of Mound Valley, Kansas; Jesse and wife, Peggy Ybarra of Altamont, Kansas; and her sisters: Rosie Corle of Independence, Kansas; and Bessie Disch of Oak Point, Texas; partner, James English of Eureka; and former husband, Richard Davidson, Sr. of Neodesha, Kansas. Mona had numerous beloved nieces and nephews and more friends than can be counted. She is preceded in death by her parents: Jose Ybarra 100 and Carmen Ybarra 76.

A celebration of life lived to the fullest will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka. Cremation has been effected. A private family scattering will take place at a later date.

The family has requested that donations be made to the American Liver Foundation. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which is overseeing arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family online, at koupfunerals.com.
