Milton Daniel Mock, Sr. of Eureka, died on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, in Wichita, at the age of 77.
He was born on April 21, 1946, in Eureka, the son of Milton Edward and Pauline Bell (Denner) Mock. He was raised at Spring Creek Ranch in Reece and attended local schools. He graduated from Eureka High School and later attended Wichita State University completing a bachelor’s degree in engineering. In 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served with honor and dignity. After his discharge, he returned home and began working at Raytheon.
On September 8, 1973, Dan was united in marriage to Iris Mann in Towanda. They made their home in Reece. To this union, four children were born. Dan worked his way up at Raytheon to be the head engineer for product testing. He retired from Raytheon after 47 years. In his retirement, he worked for the watershed district, and raising his own cattle. He was very active in his church, Jefferson Street Baptist Church, and for the VFW, always serving in the color guard for military graveside services.
Dan is survived by his wife, Iris of the home; five children: Darcie Smith of Utah; Milton Daniel Mock, Jr. of Reece; Amy Mock of Eureka; Margaret Mock of Eureka; and Marie Mock of Louisiana; eleven grandchildren: Kaja, Mariah, McKenzie, Mica, Kain, Elijah, Arianna, Checotah, Cannon, Christopher, and Erica; eleven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ed Mock of Salina; and Steve Mock of Reece. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Nathan Mock and Shane Matthews; and sisters, Patricia Jean Lawrence, and Paula Sue Goodell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Pastor Kevin Lawrence of the Climax United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Reece Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to VFW Post 2712 or to Gideons International.
