Mildred “Nadine” Givens, of Wichita, died at Medicalodge of Goddard on June 3, 2006, at the age of 87.
She was born in Minden Mines, Missouri on February 18, 1919, the daughter of Henry Harry and Eva (Hughes) Ellings. She was raised in Reece, Kansas and graduated from Reece High School, after which she attended Butler County Community College.
On October 8, 1942, Mildred was united in marriage to William Creed Givens. They made their home in Reece and Burkett, before moving to Wichita in 1952. In 1963, they moved to Elk City, Oklahoma, in 1968, to Jacksonville, Arkansas, and in 1970, to Wichita. William preceded her in death on June 14, 1985.
She is survived by two sons, William Givens of Hartford, California and Ronald Givens of Elk City, Oklahoma, two daughters, Gloria Lisano of Brighton, Colorado and Virginia Ortiz of Wichita, Kansas, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Richard Givens, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Seymour of the First Christian Church of El Dorado officiating. Interment will follow in Reece Cemetery.
