Mildred Cole
Mildred “Millie” Cole, of Eureka, died on December 6, 2013 at her residence at the age of 70.
She was born on January 2, 1943 in Yates Center the daughter of Aaron and Rebecca (Park) Hamilton. Millie attended Yates Center High School graduating in 1961. On June 25, 1961 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Cole in Osage City, Kansas. After her marriage she and Bill ran a restaurant in Madison. In 1969 they moved to Eureka. Millie worked in various jobs, daycare, waitress, a flooring store, and rebuilding saddles. On September 1, 1975 the couple opened their own auto repair shop where Millie was the bookkeeper and mechanic helping the business in all aspects. She retired in 2013.
Millie was a member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church. She was a treasurer for the church for 20 years.
She is survived by her husband Bill of the home; children, Joanna Hunter and husband Marty of Howard, Diana Cole of Mission and Daniel Cole of Baldwin City; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her sisters; Clara Griffith of Eureka, Myrtle Caudell of Iola and Ella Dill of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Hunter officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Jefferson Street Baptist Church and left in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045.
