Mickey L. Frakes of Eureka, Kansas, died Monday, July 7, 2008, at his home at the age of 73.
He was born on September 8, 1934, in Atlanta, Kansas the son of Lawrence M. and Aline May (Moore) Frakes. He was raised in the Atlanta and Latham areas and attended the local schools.
On June 15, 1951, Mickey was united in marriage to Wanda Butler in Eureka, Kansas. Mickey went to work in the oil fields with the family living in various places including, Kansas, Oregon, and Wyoming before moving back to Kansas. Mickey later started his own construction business working until his retirement until 2006. He also raised cattle and farmed.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Greenwood Cattlemen’s Association.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda; son, Mike Frakes of Eureka; daughters, Teresa Miller of Chandler, Arizona; and Tami Evenson of Eureka; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Pete and Tommy Frakes of Eureka; and two sisters, Talma Mailen of Beaumont; and Wanda Lewis of Reno, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Patricia Renee Frakes, one brother, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka. Interment will follow at Bryant Cemetery in Latham, Kansas.
A memorial has been established in his name to the Eureka Saddle Club. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
