Michael S. French of Eureka, died on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at his home, in Eureka, at the age of 61.
He was born on December 10, 1961, in Eureka, the son of Randall Gaines and Anita Louise (Mumford) French. He was raised in Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School. Other than a short time in Neal, living with his mother and stepfather, Glen Wilson, Frenchy lived his entire life in Eureka.
He was a Custodian at Eureka Junior Senior High School for 25+ years. He was a member of the Greenwood County Historical Society and spent many hours at the museum doing research. He possessed a larger-than-life personality and never knew a stranger. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his stepsiblings: David Wilson of Zion, Illinois; Maudie Anspaugh of Carbondale, Kansas; Ivan Wilson; Glenn Wilson of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jeffrey French; and a step-sister, Zelda Benson.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Eureka Memorial Hall, with Pastor Larry Moore officiating. Cremation has been effected. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Greenwood County Historical Society Museum.
