Meryl Josephine Sanders of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, died on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Cottonwood Falls, at the age of 99.
She was born on August 26, 1917, in Wellington, Kansas, the daughter of Carlyle and Elta (Mae) Smith. She was raised in Neal and graduated from local schools. On April 23, 1941, she was united in marriage to Jack Raymond Sanders in Eureka. They made their home in the Hamilton area. Jack preceded her in death on February 3, 2002.
She is survived by one son, Gerald L. and wife, Diane Sanders of Strong City, Kansas; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Sanders of Wichita; one sister, Elaine O’Quinn of Yulee, Florida; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother, Beryl; brothers, Eugene and Donald; sisters, Pauline, Vera, and Dorine; son, Joe Sanders; daughter, LaDena Mae Sanders;
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Greenwood Cemetery with Mr. Jayme A. Koup officiating. Visitation hours are set from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
