Melyta Gay Roberts of Eureka, died on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at her home in Eureka, at the age of 49.
She was born on May 28, 1969, in Eureka, the daughter of Merle Leonard and Mae Frances (Woods) Shinkle. She was raised in Eureka and graduated from local schools. She later attended college in Emporia and El Dorado, graduated from Butler County Community College. In late 1989, Melyta was united in marriage to James Roberts. They made their home in Eureka. To this union, three children were born. This marriage later ended in divorce. She was the baker at Casey’s in Eureka for many years.
She is survived by her children: LaDana McQuillian of St. Marys, West Virginia; Codi Roberts of Eureka; and Brady Roberts of Eureka; three grandchildren: Aiden, Mae, and Bella; and her siblings, Marilyn Hall of Eureka; and Myron Shinkle of Emporia. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation has been effected. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date.
