Mary Ellen Thornton

Mary E. Thornton, of Eureka, died at the home of her parents in Elgin, Kansas on Thursday, November 21, 2002, at the age of 26.
She was born on August 11, 1976, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the daughter of Garry and Sherry Johnson. Mary was raised in the Elgin/Chautaqua area and attended school there.
On May 10, 1997 she was united in marriage to Ryan Thornton in Eureka. They made their home in Eureka where Mary was a Health Care Giver. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the Eureka Kingdom Hall.
Mary is survived by her husband, Ryan, of the home, parents Garry and Sherry Johnson of Elgin, brothers, Glen Johnson of Carthage, Missouri, Greg Johnson of Elgin, and Grant Johnson of Uvalde, Texas, sisters, Milissa Johnson and Melody Johnson both of Elgin, and Grandmother, Ruby Rhoads of Sedan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 25, 2002, at the Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka, with Mr. Rick Reeves of the Elk Falls Kingdom Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
