Mary Lee Monical of Eureka, died on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, at the age of 91.
She was born on April 24, 1924 in Lakin, Kansas the daughter of Hal and Irene (Adams) Everett. The family frequently moved around Kansas while Mary was young. She graduated from Howard High School and then moved to Hutchinson where she was a welder for Cessna during World War II. On May 12, 1943, Mary was united in marriage to David B. Monical in Hutchinson. They lived in various places before the war ended, resettling in Kansas after David’s discharge. They moved to Eureka in 1972. David preceded her in death on July 30, 1988.
She was a member of the Eureka Country Club, the Sew & Tell Sewing Club, the Eureka Garden Club, and numerous bridge clubs.
She is survived by three children, David Glenn and wife, Peg of Topeka; Bruce Linden and wife, Shonda of Brentwood, Tennessee; and Dr. Mark Eugene and wife, Cindy of Palm Harbor, Florida; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pauline Miller of Howard; and six nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Laura Lee Monical-Mates; and brother, Bill Everett.
A private family inurnment will be held in July during the family reunion, at Greenwood Abbey, Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Eureka Country Club or to the Eureka Garden Club. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O.
