Mary T. Marhenke, of Eureka, died at the Medicalodge in Eureka on Saturday, October 11, 2003, at the age of 92.
She was born in Newkirk, Oklahoma, on May 2, 1911, the daughter of John and Catherine (O’Shaughnessy) Reilly. She and her family moved to Greenwood County in 1916.
On March 1, 1938, Mary was united in marriage to Ivard Marhenke in Eureka, Kansas. They made their home in Eureka where she was a homemaker. She also worked as a nurses aide at the hospital and was in health care for 27 years.
Mary was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Alter Society, the Tonovay Ladies Club, Farm Bureau HDU/Club, and was also a leader in 4H for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Julia Johnson and her husband Otis of Paradise, California, and Catherine McDonald and her husband Clint of Climax, Kansas; one brother, Pat Reilly and his wife Margaret of Topeka; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eureka, on Tuesday, October 14, 2003, with Father Leo Kerschen officiating. Rosary was held at 10:00 A.M. with the funeral mass at 10:30 A.M. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
