Mary Ann Justice, of Eureka, died at Medicalodge of Eureka on Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at the age of 99.
She was born near Fall River, Kansas on December 28, 1903, the daughter of Sanford Simons and Bertha Percilla (White) Wormington. Mary Ann was raised in the Fall River area and attended Fall River Rural School.
In 1920 she was united in marriage to Floyd Justice in Fall River. The couple made their home in Salina until the late 1950’s when they moved to Eureka for a short time. In the early 1960’s the family moved to El Dorado where Mary Ann worked as a waitress and also cooked at the Butler County jail. Floyd preceded her in death in 1985. In 1993 she moved back to Eureka to be near her family.
Mary Ann attended the Bible Baptist Church of Eureka, and was a member of the Grandmother’s Club and The Old Time Pickers and Fiddlers of El Dorado.
She is survived by two granddaughters, Cherlyn Howard of Garden City, Missouri and Terry Denner of Eureka, three great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Helen Sanders, three brothers, and four sisters.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2003, at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, with Reverend Lloyd Stewart of the Bible Baptist Church officiating.
A memorial has been established in her name to the Bible Baptist Church. Contributions may be sent in care of the Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045 which was in charge of service arrangements.
