Mary J. Cummings
Mary Jane Cummings of Independence, died on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Wesley Medical Center, in Wichita, at the age of 68.
She was born on November 11, 1946, in Parthenon, Arkansas, the daughter of James Henry and Martha Emily (Snell) Carter. She was raised in Parthenon and attended local schools. During her life, she lived in California, Arkansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. She loved camping, arts and crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren.
On August 18, 1991, Mary was united in marriage to Randy Wayne Cummings in Emporia.
She is survived by her husband, Randy of the home; four children: Troy Wayne Jr. and wife, Shirley Reynolds, of Independence, and their three children: Lois and Dale Dalrymple, and Lisa Bahr; Kenneth Lee Reynolds of Coffeyville, and son, David Reynolds; Ralph Wayne and ex-wife, Regina Steely of Eureka, and their children: Emily and Quincy Steely; and Jesse Dwayne and wife, Natasha Bartlette of Independence, and daughter, Alanna; step-sons: James Arthur and wife, Shannon Reynolds of Eureka, and their children, Amanda and Erika Reynolds; and Jason Travis Reynolds of Viann, Oklahoma; three siblings: John and wife, Georganne Carter of Kansas City, Missouri; Annimae Osterhaut of Rogers, AR; and Jimmy and wife, Diane Carter of Harrison, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Leonard Reynolds; step-granddaughter, Natasha Reynolds; and two brothers, Jesse and George Carter.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Reverend Doctor Leonard Wagner of the First Church of God of Prophecy officiating. Cremation has been effected. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
