Marvin LeRoy Winter of Virgil, died on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, at the age of 91.

He was born on December 19, 1921 in LeHigh, Kansas, the son of George and Rachel (Lipps) Winter. He was raised in LeHigh and attended local schools. The family later moved to Virgil. During World War II Marvin joined the United States Army where he served his country with honor and dignity.

On November 26, 1948, Marvin was united in marriage to Juanita Lane in Humboldt, Kansas. They made their home in Virgil where Marvin farmed and ranched.

Marvin was a former President of the Woodson County Co-Op Board.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Tomlinson of Wellsville; Norma Lowke of Plano, Texas; Delorise Long of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Barbara Conyers of Wichita; three brothers, Lavern Winter of Virgil; Don Winter of Augusta; and Charles Winter of Augusta. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Floyd Winter.

Cremation has been effected. Family services are pending.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Virgil United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
