Martin Merle Burtin of Eureka, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka at the age of 90.

Born on December 5, 1934, in Long Lane, Missouri, to Hurgle Everett and Bessie Irene (Evans) Burtin, Martin's family relocated to Greenwood County when he was ten years old. He attended Loy School and graduated from Eureka High School in 1953.

Following his education, Martin dedicated himself to the automotive industry, working at various parts stores in Eureka. In 1978, he purchased the local NAPA store and established Burtin Auto and Tractor Supply, a business he successfully operated for twenty years before retiring in 1998.

His beloved wife, Jeanne, preceded him in death on March 11, 2021. On January 3, 2025, Martin found solace and peace by accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

A dedicated community member, Martin served as a 50-Year Volunteer Member of the Eureka Fire Department and later continued his service with the Eureka Lake Division. He was also an active member of the Jaycees, the NRA, the Flint Hills Gun Club, and the Kansas Quarter Horse Racing Association.

Martin is survived by his six children: Mike and wife, Deb Burtin of Eureka; Merle Burtin of Eureka; Marsha and husband, Tim Lilley of Neal; Mark Burtin of Eureka; Monte and wife, Tammi Burtin of Eureka; and Missy Burtin of Eureka; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two siblings: Melvin Burtin of Fort Lupton, Colorado; and Marilyn Massey of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanne; and two siblings: Marvin V. Burtin; and Alma Maye Friedlan.
