Martha Braden of Eureka, Kansas died Saturday March 25, 2006, at Medicalodge of Eureka, at the age of 78.

She was born on November 24, 1927, in Eureka, the daughter of Grover and Myrtle (Faylor) Allan. She was raised in the Eureka area and graduated from local schools. She worked at the drug store, until she had to be hospitalized for one year with tuberculosis. She then went to work at the Farm Service Agency until retirement. On September 29, 1955, she was united in marriage to Lynn Braden in Falls City, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1998.

She was highly involved with Lynn in the Greenwood County Shrine Club, and the Eureka Downs while Lynn was the racing secretary.

Martha is survived by two sisters, Margaret Branson of Yates Center and Carolyn Olson of Canton, Kansas; and numerous nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers; John W. Allan, George F. Allan, and William Allan; and five sisters, Evelyn McCollister, Dorothy Mankoff, Ruby Duncan, Margaret Branson, and Elizabeth Snider.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in her name to the Midian Shrine Plane of Mercy and the Greenwood County Historical Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045
