Marjorie Gilroy Knowles

Marjorie Gilroy Knowles of Dallas, Texas died peacefully on her 98th birthday, Monday, March 24th, 2003.
She was born in Quincy, Kansas in 1905, and the daughter of True H. Gilroy and Del Martin Gilroy. She resided in the state of Kansas until age 92 when she moved to Dallas to be near her family.
She graduated from College of Emporia in Kansas and went back to Quincy to teach. She married Harold L. Knowles, also from Quincy on May 25, 1925. They were blessed with one son, True. Later Marjorie became a Housemother for the boys at The Institute of Logopedics in Wichita, which she found very rewarding.
Her husband, Harold preceded her in death. Her son, True, two grandsons, True Jackson and Michael, three great-grandsons, Grant, Mason and Carter, one great-granddaughter, True Alexandra and a very large extended family survive her. She will be missed greatly by all.
Marjorie will be buried in the Quincy Cemetery at the family gravesite on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 4:00P.M. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her honor. Contributions may be sent to the Butler County Community College Foundation 2318 W. Central, El Dorado, Kansas 67042.
