Marie Ida Bratton, of Emporia, died Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, at the age of 92.
She was born on October 11, 1914, in Allen, Kansas, the daughter of Carl Edward and Nora Robinson Nelson. She was raised on the family farms in Lyon and Morris counties, and graduated from local schools. On August 23, 1937, Marie was united in marriage to Loren Bratton in Toronto. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1988.
Marie was a homemaker, a member of the Bridge Club of Eureka, and the First United Methodist Church of Emporia.
She is survived by one brother, Floyd O. Nelson of Salina; one sister, Anna Brown of Moline; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, and three sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Greenwood Cemetery, in Eureka with Pastor Nancy Gammill of the First United Methodist Church of Emporia officiating. A viewing will be held from 5 P.M. – 7 P.M., Monday at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka.
