Marguerite Elizabeth Worley, of Piedmont, died on Thursday, January 1, 2004, at Friendship Manor in Pratt, at the age of 102.
She was born on December 27, 1901, in Utopia, Kansas, the daughter of Samuel and Melinda May (Stewart) Little. She was raised in the Utopia and Hamilton areas and attended Hamilton High School, graduating with the class of 1919. After receiving normal training at the Kansas State Teacher’s College in Emporia, Marguerite taught school at Flint Ridge and Holverson. During World War II, she taught at Fairview School District 51.
On March 24, 1925, Marguerite was united in marriage to Francis Floyd Worley in Eureka. They made their home in the Piedmont area. During their marriage, Marguerite was a homemaker and helped Floyd work the family farm. He preceded her in death on October 26, 1976.
She was a bowler and a member of Home Demonstration Unit.
She is survived by two sons, Howard of El Dorado and Warren of Las Vegas, Nevada; one daughter, Doris Jean Brown of Pratt; one brother, George Little of Lindsay, California; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister, and one son.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at the Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Alan Hunter of Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name to Southwest Hospice of Pratt. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P. O. Box 595, Eureka, KS, 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
