Margaret Osmundson
Margaret Helen Osmundson of Eureka, died on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis, in Wichita, at the age of 92.
She was born on September 25, 1921, in Greenwood County, the daughter of Calvin H. and Olive (Stevens) Davis. She was raised in Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School. She then attended Emporia State Teachers College graduating with a Master’s Degree. Following her schooling, she was a teacher in Eureka for 43 years. During her time teaching, she taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 3rd grade.
On June 2, 1946, Margaret was united in marriage to George Raymond Osmundson in Hamilton. Raymond preceded her in death on August 3, 2001.
Margaret was a life member of the Kansas National Education Association, the National Education Association, and the Greenwood County Hospital Auxiliary, a former member of the American Association of University Women, past President of the 4th District Veterans’ of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, the Greenwood County Historical Society Board, the Lioness Club, the Christ Lutheran Church board, and the Christ Lutheran Church choir, and was Chairperson of the Daffodil fundraiser of the Greenwood County chapter of the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Ann Berrie of Emporia; two grandchildren, Regina Ann and husband, Lance Bagby of Stephenville, Texas; and Lisa Diane Berrie of San Diego, California; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Reid Bagby. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Raymond Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 30, 2013 at Christ Lutheran Church, in Eureka with Pastor Tim Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
