Our Lord called out of this world to himself in heaven the soul of Marie Lewis, on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at the age of 90. She was born on January 30, 1931, on the family farm near Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of Ben and Margie (Mock) Snider. She attended Spring Creek School until the 7th grade. She then finished her school years in Eureka graduating from the Eureka High School.

On June 23, 1948, Marie was united in marriage to RG Lewis who preceded her in death on December 20, 2019. They made their home just outside Eureka “on the hill” for almost 70 years and now they are together again on a Higher Hill with their Lord and Savior.

Marie worked for Sears catalog store during the holiday seasons and retired after working at the Citizens National Bank over 25 years.
Marie was active in PTA, Brownies, First Christian Church, and school activities as the family grew up. She enjoyed the beautiful out of doors and helping her husband with Eureka Crane and Tractor.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda and husband, John Cassin of Jefferson City, Missouri; and Karen Starkey of Yates Center, Kansas; four grandchildren: Jennifer Halligan, Emily Holmstrom, Laura Troyer, and Jared Starkey; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings: Dorothy Ellen Nichols, Alfred A. Snider, and Elwood E. Snider.

The family will have a memorial service in celebration and remembrance of RG and Marie at a date yet to be determined. Our hearts are full of gratitude for all the acts of kindness from the staff at Vintage Park and Good Shepherd Hospice.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or the Christian & Congregational Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, PO Box 595, Eureka KS 67045, which is overseeing arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family online, at koupfunerals.com.
