Margaret Gee
Margaret Louise Gee of Eureka, died on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka at the age of 84.
She was born on November 13, 1929 in Eureka the daughter of Frank and Frances (Heusner) Voelmeck. She was raised in Eureka, graduating from Eureka High School. After her schooling, she worked as a housekeeper for Phil and Alberta Braden. On August 19, 1950, Margaret was united in marriage to Kenneth Gee in Eureka.
She followed Kenneth in his military postings before they returned to Eureka. She volunteered at the school helping children with their reading skills. Margaret then went to work for USD 389 in the lunch room, before becoming a Paraprofessional. She retired in 1996. She was president of the PTA for three years. She was a supervising judge for the third city election board.
Margaret was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, past President of the Garden Club, and a member of the Kansas Oldtime Fiddlers, Pickers, and Singers Flint Hills Chapter.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth of the home; son, Blaine Gee of Eureka; and brother, John Voelmeck of Clinton, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eureka with Father Steve Gronert officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
