Maradell Richardson, of Eureka, died on Monday, February 15, 2010, at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 81.
She was born on May 3, 1928, in Gainesville, Texas, the daughter of John Arthur and Ruth Ann (Schmidt) Turner. She grew up all over the Midwest as the family moved with her father’s work. After Maradell received her teaching certificate, she taught for 40 years in Mulvane, Hamilton, and Yates Center. She was also a foster mother for 20 years in Hamilton.
On August 20, 1946, she was united in marriage to Robert Edward Richardson in Altus, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2007.
Maradell was a member of the Kansas Oldtime Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers and the Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, R. David Richardson of Danville, California; two daughters, Connie Marsh of Peru, Indiana; and Cindy Pelky of Hamilton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charles S. Turner of Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Mr. James E. Marsh officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
