Lyman Rex Hershberger of Toronto, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, at the age of 86.
He was born on December 4, 1932, in Harper, Kansas, the son of Merle Rex and Bertha Georgia (Doolittle) Hershberger. He was raised in Toronto and attended Stony Point Schoolhouse. Lyman was a farmer and rancher at Toronto all his life. He also worked for the City of Eureka for twenty years. On June 19, 1959, Lyman was united in marriage to Loretta Jean Simmons in Madison. They made their home on the farm. To this union, four children were born.
He was a member of Farm Bureau and the Toronto Saddle Club.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta of the home; children, Brenda and husband, Gerald Hawn of Fall River; Dora and husband, Wayne Everly of Fall River; Betty and husband, Jack Everly of Lathrop, Missouri; and Rex and wife, Terri-Lynn Hershberger of Toronto; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Dolores Crumrine of Virgil. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 25, 2019 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Pastor Mike Hughes of Cornerstone Christian Church of Fredonia officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka. Visitation hours are set from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
