Lois Ball
Lois Jean Ball of Eureka, died on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, at the age of 83.
She was born on December 2, 1930 at home, 4 miles west of Quincy, Kansas, to William Ersel and Myrtle (Osmundson) Freeman. She attended Quincy Schools through fourth grade, one semester at Hamilton School and then Eureka grade school. She graduated Eureka High School and attended Butler Community College. Lois worked at Home Bank & Trust and was co-manager at Christian Hills Camp.
On September 10, 1949, Lois was united in marriage to Frank Vernon Ball at the First Christian Church in Eureka. She worked for 17 years at the Greenwood County Appraiser’s Office and served as secretary for the Christian & Congregational Church of Eureka. She was a member of the Church, an elder, member of the church board, member of CWF and active in many areas of the church. She was a Charter member of the local Masonic Rainbow Girls. Except for a short time in Coffeyville, Lois lived her entire live in Greenwood County in Eureka, Quincy and Hamilton.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Vernon of the home; as by their children, Gail W. Ball of Leon, Kansas; and Carmen Ball of Enid, Oklahoma; and two grandchildren, Devin Wade Ball, and Lindsay Nicole Ball.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Christian & Congregational Church, in Eureka with Reverend Rhonda Almond officiating. Cremation has been effected. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Christian & Congregational Church or the Kansas Humane Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
