Linda Jane Skaer of rural Eureka, passed away on November 14, 2018 at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, following a valiant battle with cancer.
She was born October 12, 1940, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to J.H. and Ada (Barnett) McBride and raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She had great passion for any animal, rescuing numerous dogs and cats amongst other animals; many of them becoming longtime pets. She was also an avid reader and history buff.
Linda was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Eureka, Entre Nous, the Altrurian Club, P.E.O., D.A.R. and several other philanthropic organizations.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dr. Stanley Skaer of rural Eureka; daughters, Laura and husband, Craig Harris of Plano, Texas; and Kathleen and husband, George Furney of Quincy, Kansas; and one granddaughter, Gracie Jane Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John McBride.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Eureka with Pastor Hyun Jung Choi officiating. Interment will follow at Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Greenwood County Hospital or to the First United Methodist Church.
