Linda Lee McComb of Wichita, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi, in Wichita, at the age of 74.
She was born on August 2, 1948, in Belleville, Illinois, the daughter of Laurence Henry and Sarah Jane (Chadwell) Krause. She grew up in various places as her father was in the military, but most of her time was spent in Baltimore, Maryland and London, England. Linda graduated from Central High School in London with the Class of 1966.
Linda operated Linda’s School of Dance in Eureka in the 80s and 90s. She loved dancing and guided many youngsters in the art. During the 70s and 80s, she served as a Director of the Miss Flint Hills and Miss Kansas pageants. She began her teaching career in Coffeyville, Kansas in 1994. In 1997, she moved to Florida where she was a high school teacher. She later returned to Kansas in 2010, teaching at Haysville for 2 years and later South High School in Wichita before retiring in 2013. After her retirement she was busier than ever being a grandparent. These were the best years of her life.
Linda is survived by her children, Rob and wife, Lindsay Winfrey of Wichita; and Ryan Winfrey of Eureka; five grandchildren: Haden, Brandon, Laynie, Sarah, and Harper; and one brother, Kenneth and wife, Bonnie Krause of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lawrence “Bud” Krause.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Pastor Linda Pope of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation has been effected.
