Lila May Kurtz, of Eureka, died on May 5, 2004, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas at the age of 94.
She was born on September 7, 1909, in Powell, Ohio the daughter of Jay T. and Almeda (Pounds) Gardner. She was raised in Powell and graduated from Powell High School with the class of 1928.
On September 16, 1937, she was united in marriage to Charles Kurtz in Lancaster, Ohio.
Charles and Lila moved to Eureka in 1937, where she worked in various retail stores until retiring after 62 years of service.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Stanley Kurtz and wife Mary of Eureka; two daughters, Alberta Stapleford and husband Jim of Albany, Georgia, Charlotte Kolaczkowski and husband Doug of Brownsboro, Texas; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one brother Ivan Gardner of Worthington, Ohio; and one sister Iva Gardner of Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 8, 2004 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. James Stapleford officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
