Letha (Runyon) Dimick, of Eureka, died on Monday, November 24, 2008, at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka at the age of 89.
She was born on June 7, 1919, at Mendon, Ohio the 9th of 12 children born to Charles C. and Cynthia (Baker) Runyon.
In 1920, the family moved from Ohio to an oil lease west of New Albany, Kansas, where she attended a one room school house until her 5th grade when the family moved to Neal, Kansas, where she graduated from high school. After graduation, Letha worked as Deputy Clerk of district court for Greenwood County.
On October 26, 1940, she married Rodney V. Dimick of rural Eureka. Letha moved with her husband to Ellinwood, Great Bend, Medicine Lodge and Chanute, Kansas, where ever his work took him with the Oilwell Supply Co.
The family was always involved in Christian work. The home was always open to visiting pastors, evangelists, and missionary workers. While living at Great Bend, their home was opened for Sunday school, church and prayer meetings for many months until the First Southern Baptist Church was established in Great Bend, Kansas.
In 1958, the family moved to an oil lease west of Hamilton, Kansas, where Rodney worked as a oil field pumper, and later owned and operated the B.E.C. oil lease until his death in 1974. In 1976, Letha moved to Eureka where she resided until her death.
She was a charter member of the First Southern Baptist Church, of Great Bend, Kansas and an active member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church in Eureka, Kansas.
She is survived by one son, Gail E. Dimick and wife, Darlene of Hamilton; one sister, Koneta Anton of Ft. Collins, Colorado; one brother, Russell Runyon of Casper, Wyoming; three grandchildren, Jennifer Phillips-Neal of Mt. Holly, North, Carolina; Timothy Dimick of Eureka, and Rodney Dimick of Hamilton; two great-grandsons, Alex and Trevor Neal and two great-granddaughters, Elisabeth Cynthia and Margaret Joan Neal all of Mt. Holly, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Cynthia Aicher, a granddaughter, Amie Dimick, seven brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Pastor Alan Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in Janesville Cemetery.
