Leo Milner was born, January 16, 1926 to Burl V. & Margaret C. Milner in rural Lyon County, Madison, Kansas.
He attended Madison & Hamilton grade schools and Hamilton High School. He joined the Navy at the age of 18. He served in the South Pacific at Iwo Jima, Saipan and Okinawa. He was honorably discharged at Norman, Oklahoma on February 3, 1946. He earned the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and Point System.
He married Mary Ann Weaver at El Dorado, Kansas on June 15, 1949. They had seven children.
He is survived by his wife Mary of the home; sons Vick and wife Jan of Ulysses, Tony and wife Paula of Emporia, Melvin of Toronto, Ted of Yates Center; sisters Lois Hanson of Emporia, Joann Bates of El Dorado and Ruth Ward of West Helena, Arkansas, twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his children Linda, Christine and Jim; parents Burl & Margaret Milner and brother Gale.
His occupations included farming, oil field work, mechanic, and bus driver. He enjoyed woodworking projects, fishing and hunting.
Leo died October 30, 2006 in his home in Toronto, Kansas. He will be missed by many friends and family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Koup Family Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard Schmidt of New York Valley Church of God officiating.
