Leo F. Hodson, of Eureka, formerly of Wichita, died on Friday, October 5, 2007, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 90.
He was born on March 16, 1917, the son of Claud and Edna Florence (Moxley) Hodson in Century, Oklahoma. After graduating from Afton High School he joined the United States Army serving his country with honor and dignity during World War II. He worked as a railway mail clerk on the Frisco Railroad. He retired as superintendent of mail from the Wichita Post Office.
On December 8, 1939, he was united in marriage to Juanita Jenkins in Neosho, Missouri. They made their home in Wichita. When Leo retired in 1975, they moved to Eureka Lake.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and V.F.W. Post #2712.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita of Eureka; son, Jimmy L. Hodson and wife, Mary Jo of Wichita; daughters, Anita Fritz and husband, Randy of Lake City, Kansas; and Judy Adams and husband, Keith of Eureka; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church of Eureka with Reverend Diana Hill, and Reverend Jimmy Hodson of the Community Christian Church of Durant, Oklahoma officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita. A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Eureka. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, which was in charge of funeral arrangements, at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045.
