Lenora Josephine Shay

Lenora Josephine Shay, of Neal, died on June 17, 2004, at Chanute Healthcare Center, in Chanute at the age of 90.
She was born on August 30, 1913, in Neal, Kansas, the daughter of John M. and Phila (Lloyd) Schlotterbeck. She was raised in Neal and graduated from Neal High School. After her schooling she worked on the family farm.
On June 9, 1952, she was united in marriage to John William Shay in Garnett, Kansas. They made their home in Neal where Lenora was a homemaker, and assisted John with their farming operation. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1986.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eureka.
She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, nine brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka, with Father Leo Kerschner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in Neal Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name with the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
