Lela Wynona Duncan, of Eureka, died at the Greenwood County Hospital on Saturday, March 27, 2004, at the age of 92.
She was born at Climax, Kansas on March 2, 1912, the daughter of Fred and Laura Faye (Ford) Stuber. She was raised in the Climax area and attended Eureka schools, graduating from Eureka High School with the class of 1930. After her schooling she worked as a bookkeeper.
On January 3, 1931, Lela was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Duncan in Eureka. They were lifelong residents of the Eureka area. During her life, Lela worked at Griggs Shoe Store, Red Owl Stationery, and the Eureka Pharmacy. She retired in 1999. Bob preceded her in death on June 12, 1993.
She was a member of the Christian & Congregational Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Queen Bess Chapter, and the Tuesday and Thursday Bridge Clubs.
Lela is survived by two sons, Robert Duncan of Centennial, Colorado and Jerry Duncan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, one daughter, Ann Lester of Carl Junction, Missouri, eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Jordan of the Christian & Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
