Lee Jane Breech, of Eureka, died at her home on Friday, November 30, 2007, at the age of 74.

She was born in Dewey, Oklahoma on August 6, 1933, the daughter of Ed and Ruth (Trowbridge) O’Neal. The family lived in Dewey until Jane was eleven years old and then moved to Fredonia for two years. They then moved to Teterville. Jane attended Eureka High School and graduated with the class of 1951. After her graduation she worked at City Drug in Eureka.

On June 21, 1953, she was united in marriage to Hurley A. Breech in Upper Fall River Norwegian Church. They made their home in the Eureka Community and Jane began working for the Little Castle Café in Eureka. In 1955, the family moved to Elk County where Hurley worked for the Roby Ranch, and Jane started her career as a full time mother. They moved back to Eureka in 1977, and she worked at B & J Carryout, and Benny’s Westside. In the early 1980’s she retired and became a full time home maker.

Jane was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, and was past president of the Church Council. She was a long time 4-H club leader, and she started and run the 4-H Booster Club for the Harmony Sunflowers. She was also a member of the Garden Club and was a long time volunteer at the Greenwood County Fair.

She is survived by her husband, Hurley Breech, of the home, two sons, Kelly R. Breech and his wife, Jeanna of Nowata, Oklahoma, and Rodney K. Breech of Eureka, two daughters, Cindy G. Hayes and her husband Larry, and Kimberly J. Kelly and her husband, Barney all of Eureka, twelve grandchildren, and three sisters, Lou Anna May of Dewey, Oklahoma, Jeannette Brown of Conway, Arkansas, and Sue Butter of Eureka. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at Christ Lutheran Church in Eureka, with Pastor Larry Cross officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be made in her name to the Greenwood County Cancer Support Group or Christ Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
