Mr. Lawrence Wayne “Coach” Casey, son of the late Oren Casey and Maggie Nance Casey was born June 1st, 1925 in Potwin, Kansas and soon after moved to Chadwick, Missiouri. He graduated from Chadwick High School in Chadwick, Missouri and later attended Missouri State University receiving his Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Education. At a very young age he became a Christian in a revival meeting at Swan Creek in Missouri. He served in the United States Navy in the Naval Air Gunnery Service as a Seaman 1st Class from September 13, 1944 to May 23, 1946 in which he was honorably discharged.
He was united in holy matrimony to Mary Rozell on April 9th, 1949 in the home of Reverend Floyd Hanks in Springfield, Missouri. Their marriage was blessed with three children. Mr. Casey coached at Spokane High School in Missouri, later retiring as a teacher.
He quietly departed this life and returned home to the Lord on September 30, 2018 at Eureka Nursing Home in Eureka, Kansas. Services will not be held and cremation by his wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Olivet Baptist Church, 3440 W. 13th St. N., Wichita, Kansas 67203.
He is survived by his wife Mary Casey, his children, Marty Casey, Mickey Casey, and Renee Casey Burns; five grandchildren: Derek Casey, Trevor Casey, Steven Burns, Melissa Burns Bourque, and Megan Casey; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Halcomb, Lorene Pare, and Carol Dusek, and brother, J.B. Casey. Mr. Casey was preceded in death by his sister Juanita Casey, brother Bill Casey, and an infant sibling.
