Laura Ellen Walker, 90, of Eureka, died on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka.
She was born on March 16, 1924, the daughter of Howard and Isal (Powell) Pontious, in Fowler. She was raised in Fowler, and later lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
In March of 1942, she was united in marriage to Albert Palmer “A.P.” Sears in El Dorado. To this union, three children were born. This marriage later ended in divorce.
On February 26, 1974, she was united in marriage to Herbert Floyd Walker in Wiley, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2002.
She was a homemaker and worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Phil Elliott, in Eureka.
She is survived by two sons, Roy Sears of League City, Texas and Eddie Sears of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter, Linda Wunderlich of Piedmont; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Hazel, Roy, Mabel, and Ila Rose.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Thursday, April 24, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka, with Pastor Alan Hunter of the First Baptist Church of Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Piedmont Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Greenwood County Hospital. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, who are in charge of service arrangements.
