Karl Leonard Wright of Eureka, died on March 25, 2011 at Greenwood County Hospital at the age of 89.
Karl was born on March 6, 1922 in rural Greenwood County the son of George Walter and Cora Myrtle (Walker) Wright. He was raised in the Piedmont area and graduated from Piedmont High School in 1940. After his schooling he worked at various jobs including agriculture, and the oil fields. Karl raised sheep, goats, chickens, and rabbits. He loved gardening and kept a garden until his mid 80’s.
On November 2, 1969 he was united in marriage to Irene Norman in Pittsburg, Kansas.
He is survived by his step-children, Dolores Wiggins of Eureka; Richard Meredith of Goddard; and Barbara Pennebaker of Andover; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Eureka with Mr. Jayme Koup officiating.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name to the Eureka Senior Center Friendship Meals and may be left in care of the funeral which was in charge of arrangements.
